Who We Are

The North Carolina Voter Project is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) civic engagement organization working to expand voter registration, access to trusted election information, and civic participation across North Carolina.

We help voters participate in the democratic process by:

• Guiding voter outreach with research and data
• Connecting with voters through technology, including text messaging
• Meeting voters where they are through community-based outreach

Our strategies are continually refined through research methods, including randomized control trials, to build a stronger and more inclusive model for civic participation across our state.

Our Mission

North Carolina Voter Project uses
innovative, research-backed strategies to
ensure eligible North Carolinians are
registered, informed, and ready to vote.

Our Vision

We aim to identify and scale effective
approaches to civic participation so
that all eligible North Carolinians can
fully participate in elections.

The Challenge

A healthy democracy depends on
participation, yet:
– 1 million+ eligible North Carolinians
are not registered to vote
– 2 million+ registered voters did not vote
in the 2024 presidential election
– Participation gaps are greatest among
young voters, rural residents, and
historically underrepresented communities

Our Solution

We combine targeted voter outreach,
real-time testing, and data analysis to
identify the most effective and cost-efficient
ways to increase voter participation across
the state. Our work focuses on addressing
barriers that prevent eligible North
Carolinians from civic participation.
